MUBS and NWN Collaborate for Successful World Diabetes Day Event

On Friday, November 3, 2023, the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS) and the National Wellness Network (NWN) joined forces with the International Diabetes Foundation, DiaLeb, to host a successful World Diabetes Day event at the Modern University Medical Care (MUMC) Semqanieh. The purpose of the event was to raise awareness about the complications of diabetes on the whole body, emphasize the importance of early detection, and promote preventive measures.

The event featured several informative sessions delivered by prominent experts in the field. Dr. Haitham Bou Daher, an endocrinologist, shared valuable insights about diabetes and its impact on the body. Heba Abi Faraj, a dietitian, provided guidance on healthy eating habits to manage diabetes effectively. Laura Ajab, Operations Manager and Executive Assistant at MUMC highlighted the importance of eye health for individuals with diabetes. These sessions aimed to educate attendees about the various aspects of diabetes and empower them to take proactive measures for their well-being. Attendees had the opportunity to undergo glucose tests to assess their blood sugar levels. The event also provided one-on-one consultations with the endocrinologist, allowing participants to discuss their specific concerns and receive personalized advice. Orientation sessions with the dietitian and optometrist further equipped attendees with knowledge and strategies to manage their diabetes. Blobby, a sponsor at the event, showcased a range of healthy products that align with diabetes management.
The collaborative efforts of MUBS, NWN, and DiaLeb resulted in a successful World Diabetes Day event. Through educational sessions, glucose tests, consultations, and the support of sponsors, the event raised awareness about diabetes, emphasized early detection and preventive measures, and provided valuable resources to the community. The event served as a reminder of the importance of managing diabetes and highlighted the commitment of the organizers to promote community health and well-being.
This event affirms MUBS’s commitment to UN sustainable development goals, specifically, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Building Partnerships). For more about MUBS' efforts toward achieving UN SDGs, visit our page:
